Managing Music in Chorus Connection

The Music feature in Chorus Connection allows leaders to easily distribute rehearsal audio tracks, PDF scores, practice videos, and external links directly to singers. Everything is indexed by song title in a central catalog (your Music Library) and can be assigned to Concert set lists.

The Music Library

To access your master music catalog, go to Manage > Music and select Music Library.

Your Music Library acts as your central repository. Every piece of repertoire added here can contain associated files (such as MP3 rehearsal tracks or PDF scores) and external web links.

Adding a New Song

To add a piece of music to your central library:

  1. Navigate to Manage > Music > Music Library.
  2. Click the New Song button at the top.
  3. Fill in the piece details:
    • Name (Required)
    • Artist
    • Composer
    • Arranger
    • Notes (Optional notes visible to leaders, not singers.)
  4. Click Save.

Uploading Song Files & Adding Links

Once a song is created in your library, you can attach practice materials:

For uploading files:

  1. Next to the song you want, click the Upload Files button.
  2. Select your files (MP3s, PDFs, etc.) from your computer and click Open.
  3. A window will ask: "Should members be able to see and access these files?"
    • Show Files: Makes the files visible to singers when the song is assigned to an active concert set list.
    • Hide Files: Keeps files visible only to admins (ideal for full orchestral scores or internal director notes that singers don't need to see).

For attaching links:

  1. Next to the song you want, click the Add Link button.
  2. Type/paste the URL to the web link you want to share.
  3. Type/paste the Display Name of the link (the text you want members to see as the hyperlink).
  4. Choose if this link should be visible to your singers and hit Save.
    • Visible = Yes: Make the link visible when the song is assigned to an active concert set list.
    • Visible = No: Keep the link visible only to admins.

Assigning Files and Links to Voice Sections

To ensure singers automatically see only the materials relevant to them, Chorus Connection uses a smart naming convention in parentheses in filenames and  or link names.

When you upload a file or add a link, place the exact name of the section in parentheses at the end of the file title:

  • Section-Specific Tracks: Somehwere in the filename, include (Soprano), (Tenor), etc. Any Section you have in your organization under Manage > Sections.

    • Example: Breaking Up Is Hard to Do (Alto).mp3

  • Full-Chorus Tracks: Do not include any section assignment in the file or link names. Names without sections will be shown to everyone.
    • Example: Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.mp3

Chorus Connection automatically detects these section tags in parentheses and maps the file to the corresponding voice section in your system.

Creating & Reordering Concert Set Lists

Your members never have to deal with navigating your full Music Library. Instead, they work from Set Lists that you organize for them for each Concert cycle. Once you make a Concert "active," your singers will have access to the music set lists you compile for them.

To organize your Music Library pieces into a specific program:

  1. Go to Manage > Music and select Concert Set Lists.
  2. Click on the desired concert cycle (e.g., 2026–2027 Fall Concert).
  3. Find Add a song from your library at the top of the page, click the Search Library... dropdown.
  4. Browse or search for each song you wish to include in the program.
  5. To arrange the song program order, use the drag-and-drop icon [ ::: ] to the left of any song title to move it up or down in the set list. This is the order of pieces your singers will see.

How Music Appears to Singers (Member View)

Singers access music by clicking Music on the main navigation menu. There they'll find music for the current concert cycle set list(s) and the songs included will appear in the order you choose.

  • Active Concerts Only: Members only see set lists for concert cycles that are currently set to "Active".
  • Automatic Section Filtering: By default, Chorus Connection automatically filters files and links so singers only see general full-chorus files and rehearsal tracks assigned to their specific voice section (e.g., Alto).
  • Viewing All Files: Singers can check the box for "Show files and links for all sections" to view practice tracks for other voice parts (e.g., for an Alto that needs to learn a Soprano line).
